ok I reallyLove the overall feel of this picture as well what you're trying to say.
Overall division is incredible, I like the way the colors meld with a the architecture of the city as well as the form of the mountains. I also enjoyed the little islands farther out signifying some sort of shallower area.
Originality is great, I can't think of any other artist that this reminds me of. Also I can't think of any story that I would put it in it seems to be its very own story which I really appreciate. Especially after the beast Lords of the rings movies which seem to influence a lot of artists in their designs.
I enjoy your technique, even though it is a speed paint it's easy to tell but you often do scenery shots and he worked very hard on them and know what you're doing. It also looks like with some effort you to turn it into a fully rendered painting which would be interesting to see.
For me, unfortunately the impact isn't there. I personally would look enjoy seeing a lot more harsh darks especially up in the mountains where there is more hights. Rocks are rough, and I get the feeling that this matching range is actually very smooth. I would also like to see some contrast in the water where there may be briefs or deeper places under the water. At the moment with the exception of a few of the rocks very close to shore it looks like it could just be sitting on some glass, this can happen but is highly unlikely in the ocean where this appears to be because of undersea currents and weather happening elsewhere.
I hope you found this helpful, please let me know.
